good look and finish - but how will it hold up? is it safe?

i wish the manufacturer would test these product and report the results of crash testing on tarmac.....
my only concern is will this product hold up in a slide along the tarmac? or will the rider sustain severe road rash and abrasions?
the look and finish is very decent - no qualms there.
just a question mark in my mind about whether it will be tough enough under a worst case scenario...
