5Great fit, comfortable CE-approved knee armor, great in all temperatures above freezing

AGV Solare Pants, Large, Black

The AGV Solare pants fit me extremely well. There is a lot of adjustability built into the waist area due to the dual Velcro straps. The pants appear to be designed to be worn over boots, although I was able to tuck them inside my Alpinestars Supertech R boots with a tighter fit than I'd have liked. The edge of the pant legs have a rubber strip on the inside which helps grip boots along with the adjustable Velcro straps.

The pockets are positioned well, and the CE-approved knee pads don't get in the way. There are also foam hip protectors, and a closed-foam pad for the tail bone area. There is a zipper available to use with jackets that have the correct zipper strip to link together. There is also a reflective pinstripe that runs along the length of the pants, although they're not going to be exceptionally noticeable to other motorists.

There is extensive use of mesh on the upper thigh area, and an extra laye r of cordura for the seating area. I'll admit that it doesn't look like it is intended to be full-on race pants, so you're better off with leather if you need maximum abrasion resistance for the track. But on the street, it seems to be well made and would offer decent protection over regular jeans or cargo pants.

Large feels like a size 32-34, with a size 34 inseam. I wish commercial jeans and pant manufacturers followed the template AGV used, because it fits me perfectly. I rarely find off the rack pants that fit as well!

Overall: 5/5 stars, great for riding in temperate climates. CE-approved knee pads, foam pads for hip and tail bone areas.

UPDATE:
I've rode with these pants in temperatures ranging from high 30s to the 80s. At the low end, my legs weren't that cold but I never really had cold feet even when running outdoors in the winter. At the higher temperatures, they do get hot if you stay in 1 place. Once you get a breeze going (o r when your motorcycle is moving at speed) there is plenty of airflow through the mesh to cool off your legs. The cool part is that it has very good knee and hip pads, although the only CE approved pieces are the knee pads. The hip pads are just removable foam, while there is a closed-cell foam pad sewn into the pants for your lower back.

Although you can wear these over your boots, I don't recommend it. I found that the rubber strips on the lower hem of the pants tends to ride up on your boots and "sticks", causing your knee pads to shift location. I recommend wearing these pants tucked inside your boots. The velcro straps on the bottom combined with the zippers does add some girth to your ankles, making it a tight fit for some boots.

I wear the Knox Cross-Armor shorts (basically armored underwear) with these pants and it fits fine even with the extra armor for the cocyx and hips.

4Airy and comfy but...
By Attaka
I have used these pants for just over a month. I commute 20km daily. The pants are really cool because of the mesh portions and the side paddings make me feel much safer (I used to commute in jeans and tour in leathers). The knee protectors don't reach all the way to my boots so there is an area exposed to risk.
On Product Quality, I noticed that the seam has started giving at the crotch. Maybe I swing over the bike a little enthusiastically since I have a tail bag but a month is a really short time for that to be happening? The reflectors are really nice and visible. The sizing is good. I am 6Feet ; 90kg.
